Hotel in France suffers cyber attack – Hotel union

Over the past week, GNI has informed that two cyber attacks have occurred through Booking.com.

PARIS: Hotel owners in France and hotel customers became victims of cyber attacks when using the booking service Booking.com, Sputnik reported citing the National Association of Hotel and Restaurant Operators (GNI-HCR).

“During the past week, GNI has informed that two cyber attacks have occurred through Booking.com,” according to the association’s statement on Friday.

The association also warned that it is possible that cybercriminals will develop other viruses if their first attempt is successfully blocked.

According to GNI-HCR, in addition to sending malicious software (malware) emails, hackers have also contacted Booking.com customers, including through the messaging application WhatsApp, in an effort to gain access to the customer’s bank card information.

“We have immediately contacted Booking.com to ensure that the situation can be resolved as best as possible,” according to the hotel association.

French media reports, about a dozen hotels in Paris have been victims of cyber attacks.
