Muslims from 70 countries join World#QuranHour 2022
KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims in about 70 countries involving 15,000 locations around the world today recited the Al-Quran through the 7th World Quran Hour program which took place for an hour starting at 12 noon this afternoon.
Quran Hour founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub who is also the Chairman of Yayasan Warisan Ummah Ikhlas (WUIF) said, this year the program raised the surah As-Sajdah to be sung in accordance with the theme this time ‘Dunia Bersujud’.
“We made this surah the theme this year because it is relevant to our situation after COVID-19, two years we were tested and we need to prostrate to Allah as our intention to rise again,” he said in an interview with Bernama Radio here today.
Hussamuddin, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Karangkraf Group, said more special this year, Permasuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah also agreed to recite the Al-Quran with the participants at the main location of Al-Hijrah TV station.
Apart from Al-Hijrah TV station, the program was also held at several locations throughout the country, including Malakat Mall, Cyberjaya; Selangor (Public Library Corporation and State Secretary’s Office); Kuala Lumpur (Telekom Malaysia Berhad Prolintas Group of Companies and Masjid Mu’adz Jabal) and Kelantan (Mydin Tunjong in Kota Bharu).
The program was also broadcast live on Al-Hijrah TV and social media of local TV and radio stations including Sinar Harian, Bernama and Astro Oasis by inviting six Qaris and two penadabur to recite Quranic verses.
According to Hussamuddin, those who are at home can join the program by reciting the prescribed surah As-Sajdah.
Meanwhile, a survey by Bernama at several program locations found that participants took advantage of an hour to leave their daily routine for a while to read and appreciate surah As-Sajdah.
At the Mu’adz Bin Jabal Taman Setiawangsa Mosque here, the program was also filled with the Khatam al-Quran Perdana ceremony attended by 100 to 150 worshipers.
Mu’adz Bin Jabal Mosque Da’wah and Education Division Committee member Prof Datuk Azlie Halim said, it is also to celebrate tadarus participants of various ages who have completed the Quran in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.
“So, the program started with the recitation of al-Quran surah Sajdah starting at 11.30 am, followed by the recitation of surah Sajdah at 12 noon simultaneously around the world before we continue with the khatam al-Quran Perdana program and the presentation of condolences to the congregation,” he said.
In SELANGOR, the one -hour scripture reading program at the Raja Tun Uda Library, Section 13 here was attended by more than 200 staff of the knowledge warehouse while at the State Secretary’s office, more than 300 staff of the department participated.
Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Mastura Muhamad said her party supported the organization of the program since 2016 and this time the program was also implemented simultaneously in all Selangor public libraries.

According to him, the program conducted at the supermarket can open the mind that the Quran is not only read in mosques and suraus but also everywhere.
