KUALA LUMPUR: Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) launched Seeds for the Future Alumni Fraternity to engage members into networking, exchange, knowledge and the power of experience that enables today’s young people to shape the future of technology in the country.
In Malaysia, Huawei has partnered with the Ministry of Higher Education for the Seeds for the Future initiative since 2014, Huawei’s flagship global CSR program, to help students from various universities across the country improve their digital skills.
Six Huawei Seeds for the Future alumni are currently working with Huawei Malaysia in various positions, while others work elsewhere and some are still furthering their studies.
Huawei Seeds for the Future Alumni Fraternity was launched by the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, and was also attended by Huawei Asia Pacific Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications, Zhang Zheng Jun.
The event was attended by 50 alumni members and 16 Vice Chancellors as well as representatives from local universities across the country.
Dr Noraini said the ministry commended Huawei’s far -sighted efforts to establish the Huawei Seeds for the Future Alumni Fraternity which strengthened an important part of the company’s commitment to provide a platform for members to maintain networking and collaboration.
“It also provides them a way to reach other like -minded individuals as well as leaders and experts in the field. The establishment of the Huawei Seeds for the Future Alumni Fraternity is also in line with the idea that leadership development is an ongoing journey and one, I believe, will be the foundation of a lasting friendship.
“I hope this alumni fraternity will be a source of continued reference and inspiration for the children of our leaders in facing future challenges,” he said, noting that Huawei Seeds for the Future has contributed to addressing graduate marketability challenges, an important area for his ministry.
Future Alumni Fraternity president Oscar Ling said the program had become a part of him and had changed his life.
“My Huawei Seeds for the Future experience is an invaluable experience. As an undergraduate student of engineering, I had the opportunity to experience advanced technologies directly developed by Huawei and see how all of these technologies are changing our daily lives and building a world that has better relationships.
“I believe all Seeds for The Future alumni can resonate with my experience. Apart from providing us with the opportunity to learn from renowned Global Fortune 500 companies in the field of ICT, this program also gives us the opportunity to create strong social and professional networks and build lasting brotherhoods, ”he said.
