adminLABUAN (April 22): Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick is confident that revenue collection by the Sabah Ports and Harbours Department (JPDS) will continue to improve in the future.
The State Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport said its achievement of collecting over RM40 million in revenue in 2025 showed the strong capability and commitment of its personnel in carrying out their duties.
“I have been in this ministry for about five months, and in every discussion held, I see the strong commitment of JPDS, the director and officers to attend and contribute their views. That is why I am very confident the collection can be further increased.
“Of course, the ministry also has the responsibility to ensure its role is effectively carried out so that not only does revenue increase but the motivation of JPDS staff is strengthened,” he said when officiating the JPDS 2025 Appreciation and Recognition Ceremony held here on Monday.
He said the achievement not only reflected JPDS’ efficiency and dedication in state revenue collection, but highlighted its role as a key contributor to Sabah’s maritime sector.
Ewon also commended JPDS’s digitalisation efforts through the E-JPDS application.
He described it as a step forward in enhancing the efficiency of public service delivery and reflected a strong commitment towards realising the state’s aspiration of strengthening digital governance.
On the event, he said it served as an important platform to recognise the contributions of civil servants.
“Congratulations to the three recipients of the Director’s Special Award and the 23 recipients of the Excellent Service Award (APC) 2025. I hope these recognitions will serve as a motivation for all JPDS staff,” he said.
Also present were State Assistant Minister of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Datuk Jonnybone Kurum, the ministry’s permanent secretary Datuk Thomas Logijin, deputy permanent secretary Moira David, and JPDS director Maswandie Maimoon.
