adminLONDON: Dolly Parton’s first posthumous song has been released two weeks after the American country music star passed away, reports PA Media/dpa.
Parton died at the age of 80 on August 25 after “a short battle with cancer”.
The song, titled ” Bound To Ride ,” was recorded by Parton in 2022 and is included in a tribute album to the Stanley Brothers, which is scheduled to be released on October 16.
Parton recorded her vocals for the song, which was popularized by The Stanley Brothers in 1964, in her personal studio as the COVID-19 outbreak increased because she did not want to risk traveling.
The song will be included in the album titled “Where The Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years Of The Stanley Brothers.”
The album was produced by husband and wife team Garry West and Alison Brown as a tribute to Carter and Ralph Stanley, who were known for their work in the “bluegrass” music genre that Parton loved.
Speaking to Rolling Stone about Parton’s contribution, West said: “I call it a total Dolly. We didn’t know what we were going to get and she really gave us more than we expected.”
“We were shocked. We couldn’t have gotten anything better.”
Other artists who contributed to the album included Willie Nelson, Steve Martin and Ed Helms.
Throughout her career spanning more than 60 years, Parton sold more than 100 million records worldwide and wrote more than 3,000 songs, including the hits “ Coat Of Many Colors ” and “ Joshua .”
He was also a savvy businessman with an empire that included a theme park called Dollywood, as well as a pioneering figure in the field of philanthropy.
Its Imagination Library program, a book giveaway program aimed at fostering a love of reading among children, has distributed over 300 million books to children around the world.
Tributes poured in from around the world following his death, including from some of the biggest names in the music industry such as Miley Cyrus, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Taylor Swift and Beyonce.
