The CoreHalal digital platform powers the halal management system in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: The halal industry in Sabah will continue to grow to an international level with the existence of a digital platform, CoreHalal, to further strengthen the halal management system in the state, said the state’s Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Yakub Khan.

He said CoreHalal is a digital platform developed by an application development company, Synxsoft Sdn Bhd based here with a focus on risk management, audit and training.

“CoreHalal has been developed based on the guidelines issued by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).

“CoreHalal has great potential as it is the only digital platform that provides such services.

“The use of this kind of digital platform in business not only increases the development of the halal industry in Sabah but also ensures that the people of Sabah are not left behind in seizing opportunities through technological development,” he said here, on Tuesday.

He said this to reporters after receiving a visit from Synxsoft Sdn Bhd company delegation led by Chief Executive Officer, Mazrie Mahat.

Yakub said the CoreHalal digital platform will guide entrepreneurs on the process of obtaining halal recognition and help improve the efficiency of halal businesses digitally.

“This is because this platform is not only focused on the food and beverage sector but also includes all sectors listed under the halal industry such as pharmaceuticals, consumer goods and cosmetics,” he said.

He said the state government will continue to support CoreHalal to work with strategic partners not only in Malaysia but also abroad such as Australia, Japan, South Korea and Brunei.

Meanwhile, Mazrie said his side will expand the CoreHalal platform market to Australia in September and Japan this October.

“Efforts like this are expected to inspire local technology start-ups in Sabah to continue to progress and expand their market to the global level.

“On September 1, Synxsoft will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Halal Development Corporation (HDC) during the World Halal Business Conference in Melbourne, Australia,” he said.
