LIMA ’23: 43 agreements totaling more than RM10.1 billion were signed by the Ministry of Defence

LANGKAWI: A total of 43 contract documents, Letters of Acceptance (LoA), and Letters of Intent (LoI), worth more than RM10.1 billion, were signed by the Ministry of Defense in conjunction with the organization of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA ’23) today.

Minister of Defense, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan informed that the contract documents involved involved the receipt of four Sikorsky UH-60A+ Black Hawk Helicopters which will be used for the purpose of training and operational flight tasks of the Malaysian Army (TDM).

In addition, other acquisitions involve the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) which will receive 18 FA-50 Fighter-Lead-In-Trainer/Light Combat Aircraft (FLIT-LCA) from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).

Three unmanned aircraft type Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and the Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Phase One equipment system will also be acquired by the RMDF from Turkish Aerospace Industries in addition to two more Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) Phase One and support systems from the Leonardo SPA company .

“Alhamdulillah as many as 41 agreements or letters of certification have been signed between the Ministry of Defense and the relevant parties, which are worth as much as 10.128 billion.

“I hope that we will be able to receive the acquisition of these assets in good condition, and that we will receive them in a timely manner set,” he said.

He said this during a press conference after the signing of the Contract document, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Letter of Acceptance (SST) and Letter of Intent by the Ministry of Defense at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Center (MIEC), Langkawi on Thursday.

In the same development, the Rembau Member of Parliament expressed the hope that the acquisition of assets involving helicopters and combat aircraft would be able to increase the level of readiness of the ATM in guaranteeing the country’s sovereignty.

Mohamad added that the Ministry of Defense is also currently in the process of examining in detail several other defense-related documents that Malaysia needs to have, and an announcement on the matter will be made in the near future.
