YDP Agong and Queen expressed her congratulations to Michelle Yeoh
KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his congratulations to Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh for making history, as the first Malaysian actress to win the trophy for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards. in Los Angeles, USA, today.
The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah also expressed his congratulations to the actress born in Ipoh, Perak.
According to a post on Istana Negara’s Facebook, the two monarchs also expressed their joy and pride over Yeoh’s success, which has made Malaysia famous on the world stage.
“In addition, it also once again proves that with dedication, high fighting spirit and earnest efforts, Malaysians are able to compete and succeed at the international level,” according to Istana Negara.
They both wished Yeoh the best of luck and wished him continued success.
The 60-year-old actress won the trophy for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Yeoh beat other nominees including Lesley Manville through Mrs Harris Goes to Paris, Margot Robbie (Babylon), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Menu) and Emma Thompson (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande).
