The Malaysian actress became a crowd favourite with her latest turn in Everything, Everywhere All At Once

NEW YORK: Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh made glorious history for the country when she appeared as the first Malaysian actress to be crowned as the winner of Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards.

The 60-year-old actor born in Ipoh, Perak won the prestigious award due to the effectiveness of his acting in the movie Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Michelle defeated her challengers Lesley Manville (Mrs. Harris Goes To Paris), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Menu), Emma Thompson (Good Luck To You, Leo Grande) and Margot Robbie (Babylon).

In fact, this is Michelle’s first win in the prestigious 80th award since she started acting in 1983.
Winning this award became a personal record for Michelle after 40 years of building popularity and influence in the Hollywood film industry.

Through the comedy film Everything Everywhere All at Once, Michelle played the role of Evelyn Quan Wang, a middle-aged mother who has the experience of moving across the universe to save the world.

Upon receiving the trophy for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy at the Golden Globe Awards, Michelle said that the long journey of her career was finally recognized and it was well worth it.

“It’s been an incredible journey and a big struggle for me to be here, but it feels like it’s worth it,” said Michelle.

Through recordings shared on various social media accounts, Michelle slammed the production team who tried to ‘cut’ her speech saying, she will not miss the opportunity to share her aspirations on the stage.

“I waited 40 years for this, so wait a minute,” said Michelle.

Looking back on her artistic journey, the famous actress described what she went through in Hollywood as a dream come true.

“I remember the first time I went to Hollywood and it felt like a dream come true. Everyone speaks English.

“I spent 32 hours traveling here (Hollywood) and spent it learning English! Thank you for trusting me,” continued Michelle in an emotional tone.
