The license is not renewed if the toilet fails to achieve an A certificate

PUTRAJAYA : Food and beverage (F&B) industry operators in the city center who fail to achieve the hygiene level of certificate A for toilets will not have their business licenses renewed, starting next year.

Local Government Development Minister (KPKT), Nga Kor Ming said, it is a new policy agreed by the cabinet.

“F&B premises such as restaurants, coffee shops, mamak shops and so on are required to obtain an A toilet cleanliness certificate,” he said when met by reporters at the Goodwill Interweaving Ceremony in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2023 on Friday.

According to him, the policy will also be extended to 18,000 public toilets under the municipal and district councils within three years.

“We want them to make sure the toilets are clean and fragrant in line with the principles of the KPKT BMW standard which is clean, attractive and fragrant,” he explained.

Kor Ming said, a deal will be held with entrepreneurs, associations, F&B vendors for that purpose.
“We don’t want any more foul-smelling or unpleasant toilets,” he said.
