Queen Elizabeth II breathed her last at noon on Thursday

The longest reigning monarch in the history of the modern world, Queen Elizabeth II breathed her last at noon on Thursday (local time).

Her Majesty died at the age of 96 at Balmoral Palace, Scotland, Buckingham Palace reports.

At the same time as this announcement, flags in the United Kingdom (UK) and the rest of the Commonwealth were lowered to half-mast, while all television and radio broadcast schedules were updated, in honor of his passing.

Earlier, Buckingham Palace released a statement about Queen Elizabeth’s health at around noon local time.

The statement mentioned that he was under health monitoring.

Following the statement, members of the royal family, including Prince Charles (now King Charles) and Princess Anne, reportedly left for Balmoral Palace, to be with him.

Queen Elizabeth or Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born at 17 Bruton St, London, on April 21, 1926.

Queen Elizabeth is queen of government to 15 countries including the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Tuvalu.
