SONG ‘Naatu Naatu’ by M Keeravaani became the first song from an Indian film production to be nominated in the Best Original Song category at the 95th Academy Awards (Oscar Awards).

The song is taken from the action comedy film titled RRR , directed by SS Rajamouli.

“I am happy with the Oscar nomination, because it is the dream of artists from all over the world. To get to this level is not a matter of playing around, it requires effort and high credibility.

“That’s what makes Oscar so highly regarded. That’s why we respect and appreciate it so much. And I’m very proud to be the first individual from South Asia to be nominated in the music category,” he told the Deadline portal recently.

Also receiving nominations in the category was Lady Gaga for Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick , while Rihanna became an Oscar nominee for the first time through Lift Me Up , a song taken from the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever .

Diane Warren received her 14th Oscar nomination for the song Applause from the film Tell It Like a Woman .

The surprise happened when the favorite candidate, Carolina by Taylor Swift quoted from the movie Where the Crawdads Sing failed to receive a nomination.

The song is considered the frontrunner to win the Oscar after receiving nominations for several other prestigious awards including the Golden Globes.
