Going bigger for the arts: Yayasan Hasanah awards RM4.15 mil in ArtsFAS grants this year

Malaysia’s largest arts grant funds more than 100 arts and culture showcases happening until January 31

YAYASAN Hasanah, a foundation under Khazanah Nasional, announced that it has awarded grants amounting to RM 4.15 million today.

They will be channelled to 41 arts, culture and heritage organisations through its annual Arts for All Seasons (ArtsFAS) grant initiative in 2022. The amount is nearly triple the funding awarded in the previous year, it said in a statement.

This followed its latest round of ArtsFAS grant applications that closed last month. It was the largest arts grant programme in Malaysia’s creative scene.

With this year’s increased social impact, the annual ArtsFAS grant programme is jointly managed with the Ministry of Finance. It expects to enable economic opportunities for more than 3,000 arts, culture and heritage practitioners.

The latest ArtsFAS 2022 grant recipients are as follows:

Pertubuhan Seni Kayangan Perak – Ratu Gambus Padang Changkat (Dance)
The Rondo Production (M) Sdn Bhd – Malaysia Tuba Christmas (Music)
Kantan Drum Circle PLT – Hormat & Harmoni Drumming Tour (Music)

To date, ArtsFAS 2022 supports over 100 showcases including performances, concerts, theatres, workshops, exhibitions, webinars and ensemble performances. They are orchestrated from September 2022 until January 2023 in nearly all Malaysian states.

ArtsFAS provides a platform to showcase Malaysia’s preserved and conserved arts, heritage, and culture via public events. It aims to educate the younger generation and the community through technology, knowledge exchange and art events.

It also seeks to impart conservation through activation, while making arts accessible for all.
