Awie Ride: Convoy fighting scammers will become an annual event

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Commercial Crime Prevention Campaign 2022 @ Awie Ride which aims to enlighten and increase community understanding, especially in rural areas, of the risk of being cheated by scammers (fraud syndicates) will be made into an annual program.

Singer Datuk Awie or real name Ahmad Azhar Othman said he and his team are confident that more awareness can be raised if the effort is successfully implemented.

“We are also trying to enter Sabah and Sarawak if there is space and opportunity but we are still at the discussion stage with sponsors considering the logistical issues to get there,” he told Bernama after completing the third phase convoy from the south of the country at the Petronas Plaza Sungai Besi Toll Station. here at midnight last night.

According to him the convoy involving about 100 high-powered motorcycles, was effective and successfully achieved its goal following the good reception of the public who attended all 10 series of talks in Peninsular Malaysia.

“Starting from phase one in the north, phase two in the east coast and finally in the south, we see that many people are starting to realize what the team is doing. The public is not just looking at the big motorbike but when I talk about the dangers of scammers , they listen and take notice.

“Want to eliminate 100 percent maybe not now but with the existing awareness will make people smarter than being cheated ( scammers ),” he said.
