The HAWANA 2022 Awards recognize the contributions of the journalistic profession
KUALA LUMPUR: The presentation of the National Journalist Day Award (HAWANA) 2022 is one of the main events of HAWANA 2022 which will take place in Melaka on May 29, said BERNAMA Acting Chief Executive Officer, Roslan Ariffin.
He said the award was to recognize and honor professional journalists, individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions not only in the field of journalism but in shaping the minds of the people through the works produced.
“HAWANA 2022 figures will receive trophies, cash and certificates of appreciation,” he said when being a guest on the Malaysia Petang Ini program to discuss the topic ‘Hari Wartawan Nasional 2022’ published by Bernama TV today.
He said the largest gathering of journalists and media practitioners in the country themed ‘Suara Jelata, Aspirasi Negara’ would also see the Melaka Declaration announced at the summit of the celebration.
The items in the declaration refer to the views and aspirations of journalists as well as their aspirations for a more prosperous and united Malaysia, he said.
He said a total of 500 guests were also invited to attend the celebration, including key media leaders from Indonesia, ISWAMI Indonesia and the Indonesian Minister of Communications and Informatics.
“Ambassadors, external leaders and external editors will also be invited as well as media partners from Sabah and Sarawak,” he said.
HAWANA was organized to recognize the role of Malaysian journalists and media practitioners, as well as a platform for media practitioners to share opinions and enhance the development and growth of the media industry in Malaysia.
He said the selection of Melaka as the location for the celebration was due to several factors such as the location near the capital, the support of the Melaka state government for HAWANA 2022 made in the state as well as the desire to share the joy of the celebration with other states.
“After this, we will continue to negotiate with any state government to enable HAWANA to be made in other states,” he said.
According to the schedule, HAWANA 2022 will be officiated at 2 pm at the Hatten Hotel, Melaka and the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has confirmed his presence to officiate the event.
ISWAMI and BERNAMA will be the main movers of the HAWANA 2022 with the support of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) and also involve other organizations, associations and media practitioners.
