Prince Andrew documentary to air during King Charles’ coronation

Channel 4 in the United Kingdom has commissioned a documentary centred on Prince Andrew

A new Channel 4 documentary titled ‘Andrew – The Problem Prince’ would centre on a contentious 2019 interview with Emily Maitlis for Newsnight.

ACCORDING to Deadline, a documentary about the disgraced Prince Andrew has been commissioned by the UK’s Channel 4 as part of its content programming for King Charles’ historic coronation.

The Duke of York, who fell from prominence following a sex abuse scandal, made headlines in 2019 with an exclusive interview with Emily Maitlis for Newsnight, which did more harm than good to his reputation.

According to rumours, a new Channel 4 documentary titled ‘Andrew – The Problem Prince’ would centre on this contentious interview, including commentary from Maitlis herself.

In the first of two installments, BBC journalist Emily Maitlis will discuss how she came to question Prince Andrew about his ties with wealthy sex offender Jeffrey Epstein in the now-famous interview.

Andrew – The Problem Prince will also contain archival videos, an interview with former Newsnight producer Sam McAlister, and access to Palace insiders.

In an interview with BBC Newsnight, Prince Andrew denies any communication with Virginia Giuffre. Prince Andrew denied having sex with or even meeting the then-17-year-old Virginia Giuffre in the interview four years ago.

The duke resolved the sexual assault lawsuit out of court last year, with the accord not implying guilt.

In the run-up to King Charles’ coronation, Channel 4 intends to screen a replay of the satirical Prince Andrew: The Musical, as well as a special dubbed The Windsors, in which Harry Enfield will play Charles as he prepares for the coronation.
