KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang UMNO Youth chief Kamil Ibrahim today defended the performance of the Pahang State Government while strongly criticising those who he claimed were trying to distort the true picture of the state administration’s achievements.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Kamil stressed that the continuous attacks on the state government were a sign that Pahang was on the right track.
“When the state of Pahang is performing well and in a stable position, it is not surprising that there will be parties who try to spread negative stories about the state government.
“This is normal, when things calm down and get better, some people feel uncomfortable sitting,” he said.
Kamil also questioned the credibility of a study allegedly being conducted on the state government, claiming that the research was biased and did not place integrity as the basis of academic work.
“If you want to do this research, you have to have integrity, not just show political bias on one side. If the researcher also wants to ride on PAS, don’t be surprised if there are other people they are trying to ride on,” he stressed.
He also criticised the opposition’s approach, which he saw as preferring to repeat old accusations over factual arguments, and claimed that the party’s real agenda was to pursue power, not defend the interests of the people.
“Their method is not based on mature arguments or clear facts. They repeat old things, twist things here and there, add stories to suit their taste, then make it look like the real truth,” he added.
Kamil also touched on the call by the Menteri Besar of Pahang, known as Tok Wan, for every leader to always be prepared to face the people as the main assessors of government performance, especially ahead of the election.
“The people have eyes, they judge. If after four or five years we don’t bring any changes to the state, of course they will make their own decisions,” said Kamil.
Kamil at the same time stressed the Pahang Government’s commitment to practicing politics based on facts and real work results, in contrast to what he described as “fake achievements” in states ruled by other parties.
“In Pahang, we stand on real ground. What we have achieved, we speak honestly. What we lack, we improve. We are not chasing popularity figures, but we ensure that the state remains peaceful, stable and prosperous,” he said.
