adminLONDON: British singer Rod Stewart has cancelled the remainder of his US tour in 2026 after undergoing heart surgery, reported PA Media/dpa.
The 81-year-old singer confirmed via Instagram that he will be taking a four-week break to recover after undergoing a coronary stent procedure, thus cutting short his US and Mexico tour which was scheduled to last until September.
“I’m feeling better and recovering well,” he said.
“I would like to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such good care of me.
“I am very disappointed to have to miss this opportunity to perform and apologize to the fans, but I hope to be back on stage and having fun with you all soon.”
He is scheduled to perform in Ohio, Illinois and Mexico, in addition to performing six shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Stewart’s representative said the singer was “doing very well” after the procedure and “has returned to normal daily activities.”
According to the statement, on the advice of doctors, Stewart will take a four-week break to fully recover before returning to performing.
“Unfortunately, this means he will not be able to continue with the remainder of his current tour schedule.
“Information regarding affected performances will be communicated by the respective organizers and locations.”
Two more shows in Colorado are scheduled to take place in September 2027.
The announcement came after Stewart postponed performances in Cincinnati and Cleveland due to health concerns.
Rocket Arena in Cleveland previously confirmed the cancellation of the show via social media, stating: “Following a period of observation, doctors have advised Rod Stewart to rest for at least 48 hours. Accordingly, his performance scheduled for tomorrow night, August 11, 2026 at Rocket Arena, Cleveland is canceled.”
“Rod is disappointed not to be able to perform and appreciates everyone’s understanding. He hopes to return to the stage soon.”
Health problems also forced several of his performances to be cancelled and postponed in May and June.
In May, singer Maggie May apologized to her “family of fans” in a statement to the Las Vegas Review-Journal Las after canceling a show in Nevada, explaining: “I am taking a break from using my voice while recovering from a sinus infection.”
Less than a month later, he canceled a performance in San Diego after being diagnosed with a respiratory infection that caused laryngitis.
Earlier this month, the rock singer also welcomed the birth of his sixth grandchild after his daughter, Ruby, gave birth to a baby boy named Levi.
