Batik designed by the Permaisuri Agong was exhibited at the Synthesis Exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 40 batik designs produced by the Queen Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah are on display at the Synthesis Exhibition at the Prima Gallery, The New Straits Times Press News Center here starting today until next Sept 18.

Through sharing on Istana Negara’s Facebook page, the Queen Mother agreed to go and complete the opening ceremony of the exhibition yesterday.

Also leaving was Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Afzan Aminah Hafidzatullah Binti Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

According to the Istana Negara, Prima Gallery is the first private art gallery to receive the approval of the Queen Mother to exhibit her exclusive works which are block print batik which is one of the oldest traditional batik making techniques in Malaysia.

Her Majesty also allowed the Prima Gallery to exhibit 12 works by the country’s best batik painter Ramli Malek between 1943 and 1982 and some of the works on display are part of His Majesty’s private art collection and have never been exhibited to the public before.

The exhibition also featured 42 artworks by 37 famous and new local artists such as Datuk Chuah Thien Teng, Chuah Seow Keng, Yusof Ghani, Abdullah Jones, Fauzin Mustafa, Mastura Abdul Rahman, Zaharin Muhammad and Raja Azhar Idris.
