Astro AWANI is recognized as the Best Tourism News Channel
KUALA LUMPUR: Astro AWANI received recognition as the Best Tourism News Channel at the Malaysia Tourism Industry Award 2022 which took place in the nation’s capital.
This award was given for Astro AWANI’s continuous efforts in highlighting tourism issues as well as actively promoting the country’s tourism industry.
The award was presented by Pahang State Government Secretary, Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak who represented Pahang Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail witnessed by the President of the Malaysian Association of Travel Agencies (MATA), Datuk Dr Mohd Khalid Harun in the capital on Friday night.
Khalid explained that more than 60 awards were given to tourism industry activists to celebrate their excellence and support in the development of the country’s tourism industry.
“Millions of thanks and congratulations to the tourism industry players who have contributed towards the survival of our tourism industry.
“This award is also indirectly a motivation for all tourism and hospitality industry players in Malaysia to work even harder in promoting the tourism business thus creating a positive image of the country around the world,” explained Khalid.
At the same ceremony, two former Ministers of Tourism, Arts and Culture namely Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam and Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir were also crowned as Tourism Icons 2022.
While singer Jaclyn Victor has been announced as the Tourism Icon of the celebrity category.
The Tourism Industry Awards are organized in collaboration with the Malaysian Association of Travel Agencies (MATA) and Santai Travel.
This event was also made possible with the cooperation of strategic partners consisting of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Islamic Tourism Center (ITC), Tourism Malaysia, and Malaysia International Tourism Development Association (MiTDA).
