KUCHING: As expected, the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly will be dissolved next Monday.
According to Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, the dissolution is to enable the 13th Sarawak State General Election (PRN) to be held on a date to be set by the Election Commission (EC).
The EC is expected to convene in the near future to allow important dates related to the Sarawak general election to be decided.
“State elections must be held within 60 days after the date of dissolution of the state assembly.
“The EC will be officially informed and will then determine the date for nomination of candidates, early voting and polling day,” he said in a special press conference at the Satria Pertiwi Complex, here, on Friday.
Also present were all members of the Sarawak cabinet.
