TANJONG MALIM: The action of the Malaysian Registration of Societies Department (RoS) in issuing a suspension order against all Perikatan Nasional (PN) activities was not done arbitrarily, but rather based on complaints received.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said it is the responsibility of the RoS to safeguard the interests of members of any organisation registered with it under the Societies Act 1966.
“Of course there are several flaws that have occurred in Perikatan Nasional which caused this suspension to be made by RoS.
“In this context, of course there was a grievance or complaint sent by one of the coalition parties that caused the suspension to be carried out,” he said.
He said this to reporters after officiating the first session of the Central Zone Polytechnic and Community College Convocation Ceremony for 2026 at the Chancellor’s Hall, Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), here, today.
Ahmad Zahid hopes that the suspension action will be calmly faced by PN and the parties under the coalition as the Melaka State Election (PRN) approaches.
He said that PN would definitely have its own plans if the suspension continues.
“Of course, the coalition parties will use their respective party symbols to enter the Melaka state election arena or the upcoming general election,” he said.
Previously, RoS issued a suspension order on all PN activities effective Sept 23.
According to RoS, the action was taken under Subsection 13(2A) of the Societies Act 1966 following a notice issued to PN on Sept 22, 2026.
