KUANTAN: Three State Legislative Assembly (DUN) coordinators in the Paya Besar parliamentary constituency have lodged a police report regarding a social media post that allegedly contained inaccurate statements against the Pahang state government.
The report was made by Lepar DUN Coordinator, Mustaqim Zakaria; Sungai Lembing DUN Coordinator, Datuk Safariah Awang Ngah; and Panching DUN Coordinator, Hasrul Hafizan Mohd Din against Maran PAS Youth Information Chief, Muhammad Salman Al Farisi at the Kuantan District Police Headquarters (IPD) yesterday.
Mustaqim said that linking the state government’s announcement with certain allegations was inappropriate and could mislead the public.
“When the people are facing cost of living pressures following conflicts in West Asia, the Pahang government’s initiative should be supported.”
“However, the statement made is seen as potentially creating negative and inaccurate perceptions,” he said when met after the report was made.
He explained that all DUN coordinators are subject to state financial regulations and do not have the power to distribute allocations directly or arbitrarily.
According to him, any assistance is implemented according to established procedures and not in the form of cash directly given to the DUN coordinator as might be misinterpreted.
“This matter has also been clarified by the Pahang Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, that assistance is channeled in the form of basic necessities to target groups through existing data at the DUN office,” he said.
Meanwhile, he advised all parties, especially opposition leaders, especially young PAS leaders, to be more careful before making accusations.
“I hope this serves as a lesson to him and other opposition leaders,” he said.
Earlier, Salman, through a Facebook post last weekend, claimed that Wan Rosdy’s announcement regarding the allocation of RM15,000 a week to help the people was an act of ‘robbing’ state government revenue.
