adminKUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor today submitted a Letter of Demand (LOD) to several individuals who were accused of exaggerating his statements during a speech during the Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) campaign last week.
The Kedah Menteri Besar said that among the recipients of the LOD were the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming; former Skudai State Assemblyman (ADUN), Marina Ibrahim; social media influencer, Salim Abd Rahman; and several other individuals.
“We demand seven days for them to apologise, after which they have to contact my lawyer. If not, we will go to trial. Prepare the money,” he said during a press conference after chairing the Exco meeting at Wisma Darul Aman, Alor Setar today.
Muhammad Sanusi said his party also handed over to the lawyers a long list of individuals who were accused of distorting facts, exaggerating and twisting their statements.
He claimed that the action was taken to mislead the public and make a profit by manipulating the statements he made.
At the same time, Muhammad Sanusi also confirmed that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) had taken statements in Alor Setar regarding his statement last Sunday.
According to him, the process did not take long and went smoothly.
“There are also many questions, answer them systematically based on current facts. Which police statement can be added to?,” he added.
It is understood that the controversial statement was made on July 23 when he, as the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Elections Director-General, delivered a speech at the PN and Barisan Nasional (BN) Prime Ministerial Conference in Jempol.
Muhammad Sanusi reportedly said that Malays are now increasingly losing economic control, in addition to describing Malaya as the only homeland owned by Malays compared to other races who have their own countries of origin.
He also urged young people not to take politics lightly, claiming that the state faces the risk of losing its identity if no changes are made in the near future.
The statement sparked various reactions, including from Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders, who collaborated with PN in the Negeri Sembilan state election, as well as Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders.
