adminSHAH ALAM: The 10th edition of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) will open a new chapter in efforts to strengthen Selangor’s position as a regional trade hub through the expansion of business networks to the ASEAN level.
The business summit is scheduled to take place from 14 to 17 October 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, marking a decade of its role as an important platform that brings together investors, industry players and policymakers from home and abroad.
Since its introduction in 2015, SIBS has grown from a small-scale trade event to an influential regional economic platform, with a cumulative potential transaction value reaching RM30.56 billion throughout its duration.
Selangor Investment, Trade and Mobility Exco, Ng Sze Han said this year’s edition aims to increase the participation of visitors, exhibitors and potential transaction value beyond last year’s achievements.
“This year, the target is for 50,000 visitors and for 850 exhibitors (booths) and for potential transaction value , this year is very special, our target is to exceed last year. Last year’s record was more than RM8.17 billion,” he said.
He said organising SIBS was not only measured by the number of visitors or transaction value, but was more important in building a more resilient economic ecosystem to support business growth and investment in Selangor.
Entering its second decade of organization, SIBS 2026 also introduced several new components including the Selangor Techsphere Summit, Selangor AI & Semiconductor Summit and Selangor International Care Expo to strengthen the multi-sector investment ecosystem in the state.
All of these new components complement existing events such as the Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC) and the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK).
Meanwhile, Invest Selangor also launched a new initiative known as SIBS@ASEAN to expand the summit’s reach to the regional level.
The first edition of the initiative will take place in Bandung, Indonesia on 9 to 10 July 2026, with the participation of approximately 50 Selangor-based companies.
Invest Selangor Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Hasan Azhari, said the selection of Bandung was made based on the similarity of economic profiles between Selangor and the West Java region.
“The economic profiles of Selangor and West Java have many similarities as both are major contributors to their respective countries’ economies.
“Among the sectors we will bring to Bandung include the real industry, automotive and aerospace, as well as exhibitions related to medical tourism and education,” he said.
According to him, the regional collaboration opens up opportunities for Selangor companies to penetrate international markets, besides strengthening the state’s position as an important link in the regional supply chain and investment.
The organisation of SIBS 2026 is also expected to continue to play an important role in attracting new investments and stimulating the growth of high-tech industries, thus strengthening Selangor’s position as the country’s main economic engine.
