adminGEORGE TOWN: Cooperation between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) at the Penang State Government level needs to be further strengthened to ensure administrative stability and the interests of the people.
State Rural Development, Agrotechnology and Food Security Committee Chairman Datuk Rashidi Zinol said that the cooperation between the two political party coalitions at the central and state government levels has been very good and constructive.
“During the three years I have been carrying out my mandate as a member of the Penang State Executive Council, I have never faced any problems in my working relationship with the leadership and friends from PKR and DAP in Penang.
“On the contrary, the working relationship that has been established is based on mutual respect, understanding, good communication and priority given to the interests of the people and state development,” he said in a statement today.
He said differences in party backgrounds should not be a barrier to working together when the main goal is to ensure that the state government administration runs smoothly and the people benefit.
Rashidi, who is also the Nibong Tebal UMNO Division Chief, described the political understanding formed in Penang after the 2023 State Election (PRN) as a collaboration that should be appreciated and continued to be strengthened.
The sole BN representative in the Penang State Government administration said that the Penang PH decision to retain BN representatives in the state administration until the next General Election (GE) also reflected the importance of continuing the cooperation.
Meanwhile, he also expressed support for the stance at the central level that the Unity Government must continue to be defended and strengthened until the end of its term to ensure the stability of the country’s administration, continuity of policies, and the government’s focus on the development agenda and the well-being of the people.
In the 2023 Penang state election, the PH and BN coalition formed the Unity Government after winning 29 of the 40 contested State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats, with DAP winning all 19 contested seats, PKR (seven), Amanah (one) and BN (two).
