BAGAN DATUK: Barisan Nasional (BN) is ready to invite Perikatan Nasional (PN) to join the state government administration, if the coalition succeeds in forming a government in the 16th Melaka State Election (PRN) on Nov 14.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the approach was taken to respect the people’s mandate and the political agreement signed between the two coalitions, similar to what was implemented in Negeri Sembilan.
“As happened in Negeri Sembilan, when the government was formed, we honoured the appointment so that they (PN) would be in the government. Similarly in Melaka, when the Unity Government was formed, our friends in PH (Pakatan Harapan) were also appointed as Exco and Deputy Exco, but later they decided to leave.
“So we will do the same for the ADUNs (State Assemblymen) from PN who won the seats in question and God willing, if we form a government, we will also invite them to be part of the state government that will be formed,” he said at a press conference after attending the Deepavali 2026 Charity Ceremony at the Bagan Datuk UMNO Hall, here today.
In this election, BN is contesting 23 seats out of the total 28 seats contested while PN is contesting five seats.
The Election Commission has set Nov 14 as the polling day for the Melaka state election, while early voting is on Nov 10.
