adminMELAKA: Melaka Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh has reminded those who want to collaborate with the party in the State Election (PRN) not to discuss the matter via social media.
Ab Rauf said the move would only create a negative perception among the people towards any political party that would participate in the election.
“We don’t need to consult on social media. We will issue an official letter to all parties to present how they can be the best strategic partners (to BN) and we will present it at all levels for us to make a decision.”
“So far, I greatly respect all parties who are interested in joining us, but this is subject to our official discussions that will be held at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre later,” he said.
Ab Rauf said this to reporters after the National Level 2026 National Environment Day Celebration Opening Ceremony here today.
Also present were Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup and his deputy Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh as well as Melaka State Secretary Datuk Salhah Salleh.
Ab Rauf said BN has so far given any party the opportunity to negotiate regarding the Melaka state election.
“We are not closing the door tightly and we are not opening the door wide for negotiations,” he said.
In the last Melaka state election, BN led by Ab Rauf formed the state government after winning 21 out of 28 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats while Pakatan Harapan (PH) won five seats and Perikatan Nasional (PN) two seats.
The Melaka State Legislative Assembly term ends on December 30.
