Difficult to move, Amitabh Bachchan injured on the set of ‘Project K’

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is reported to have suffered an injury on the set of the shoot resulting in “painful” movement and breathing problems.

Citing CNN , Bachchan suffered a torn muscle and broken ribs after being injured while shooting an action scene for his latest film “Project K” in the southern city of Hyderabad.

Writing on his official blog on Sunday, the veteran actor informed that he is resting at home in Mumbai and will take a few weeks to recover.

“Difficult or shall I say… I will not be able to meet those who wished me well at Jalsa Gate this evening,” Bachchan wrote, referring to his weekly ritual of meeting fans outside his residence in suburban Juhu.

The 80-year-old actor also asked his fans not to wait outside his residence for now.

“So don’t come… and inform those who intend to come,” he said again.

Bachchan, who has starred in around 200 films throughout his career spanning over five decades, is adored by millions of Bollywood fans around the world.

Earlier, after he suffered a life-threatening injury on set in 1982, his fans went on hunger strike and one fan even walked 482 kilometers (300 miles) backwards to pray for his recovery.

Bachchan made his debut in the Bollywood film industry, in 1969 through the film Saath Hindustani which was translated as Seven Indians.

He achieved superstar status after his successful lead role in the blockbuster film “Don” in 1978.

Throughout his illustrious career, Bachchan played various characters in different film genres including family, action and drama.
