Asia’s richest man relaunches the iconic drink ‘Campa Cola’
MUMBAI: Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani announced plans to relaunch the iconic Campa Cola soda brand that once rivaled Coca-Cola and Pepsi in the 70s.
According to CNN , the Reliance Ambani Group said the drink will be reintroduced to India’s billion-dollar non-alcoholic market this summer in three flavors: cola, lemon and orange.
With the return of Campa Cola to the market, Reliance hopes to attract nostalgic Indians to the brand and introduce the drink to the youth.
“By presenting Campa Cola in a new form we hope to inspire consumers across generations to embrace this truly iconic brand and spark new excitement in the beverage segment,” said a company spokesperson.
This brand once filled a void in the South Asian country when the famous Coca Cola from America was not available in the market at that time.
In the meantime, the news about the ‘return’ of this drink made the older generation excited and eager to get Campa on the market.
One of the Campa Cola fans, Shailesh Desai, 60, from Mumbai, said that whenever he got a bad grade on his report card during his school days, he would drink Campa Cola to calm himself down.
Earlier, Bollywood actor Salman Khan appeared in one of the drink campaigns that used the tagline “The Great Indian Taste”.
