KLUANG: Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) candidate for the Mahkota State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Abd Hamid Ali promised to bring the voices of the people of Mahkota to the Johor State Legislative Assembly if given a mandate in the Johor State Election (PRN).
He said, Bersama will play the role of a good and active opposition if it succeeds in winning the contested seats.
“We will listen to the voices of the people and we will bring the voices of the people.
“We are aware that we are contesting 15 out of 56 DUN seats. Our president has stated that we will not join any party.
“So, if we succeed in winning the contested seats, we will be a good opposition and an active opposition to bring the voices of the people.
“I myself will be one of the machinery to bring the voices of the people to the Johor State Legislative Assembly,” he told Astro AWANI .
Abd Hamid said the commitment was made because during his campaign in Mahkota, he found that one of the main complaints of the residents was that their voices were not being conveyed effectively to the state government.
“We understand that it is not easy because there is a lot of bureaucracy that needs to be overcome. “But maybe the people need more drastic action on their demands,” he said.
In this Johor state election, Abd Hamid faces a three-cornered contest against the Barisan Nasional (BN) incumbent, Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah, and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Dr Ahmad Zuhan Md Zain.
In the Mahkota DUN by-election (by-election) in September 2024, Syed Hussien won the seat with a majority of 20,648 votes after defeating Mohamad Haizan Jaafar (PN).
The Mahkota DUN currently has 66,318 registered voters.
