KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should be 100 percent supported by the people of this country for proving himself to be the most resolute Prime Minister against corruption, especially in the Johor State Election (PRN).
SEGI University Adjunct Professor, Dr Sarraf Rajesh said that since assuming the leadership of the country, the Prime Minister has shown consistent determination to strengthen integrity, transparency and accountability in the country’s administration.
He said the approach taken not only emphasizes law enforcement, but also emphasizes building a culture of ethical, professional and responsible governance.
“The measures introduced reflect a high commitment to ensuring that Malaysia is developed based on the principles of justice, honesty and clean administration for the well-being of the people and the progress of the country.
“Corruption is one of the biggest challenges that has long plagued the country. It not only results in leakage of national revenue, but also has a direct impact on economic development, social well-being and the people’s confidence in public institutions,” he said in a statement on Monday.
On Saturday, Anwar claimed that there were political parties conspiring to bring him down because the government he led was firm in combating corruption and abuse of power.
Anwar, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman, said the Madani Government’s administration, which did not compromise on the practice of stealing people’s money or using power for personal gain, was a factor that caused dissatisfaction among some parties.
According to Sarraf, efforts to combat corruption are not just a political agenda, but a national responsibility that determines Malaysia’s future as a developed, competitive and internationally respected country.
He said that combating corruption is not an easy task and requires political courage, firm leadership, patience and willingness to face various challenges and opposition from various parties.
At the same time, he said, all parties that form the MADANI Government have a shared responsibility to ensure that political stability continues to be maintained so that the government can focus fully on the national development agenda.
“Success in combating corruption requires the cooperation of all parties regardless of political background, because the benefits will be enjoyed by all Malaysians.
“In an increasingly challenging political environment, every party should prioritize national interests over narrow political interests,” he said.
He explained that political competition is natural in a democratic system, but it should not interfere with the government’s efforts in implementing reforms that benefit the people.
On the contrary, constructive cooperation between all parties will accelerate the achievement of national goals, strengthen public confidence, increase economic competitiveness and strengthen Malaysia’s position on the international stage.
“I believe the commitment of the Anwar-led government in strengthening integrity, transparency and accountability is a very important step for the future of Malaysia.
“Hopefully this noble effort will continue to be strengthened until the end of the administration’s term. With visionary leadership, strong support from the people and cooperation from all parties, Malaysia has the potential to emerge as a country that truly has integrity, is free from corrupt practices, is respected internationally and becomes an example of excellent governance to the world,” he said.
