Wan Ahmad Fayhsal hints at Hamzah as new party president

SHAH ALAM: Machang Member of Parliament, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal hinted that former Bersatu deputy president, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, will become the new party president.

Through a long statement uploaded on Facebook, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal claimed that the support given to Hamzah was not a mistake, but was made based on knowledge, experience and in-depth research into the party’s journey.

“I am 100 percent confident based on my own knowledge, direct experience and thorough investigation that supporting, advocating and defending Datuk Seri Hamzah is the right action.

“God willing, he will soon be our new party president,” he said.

He also rejected claims that Hamzah was a weak leader and only succeeded in occupying the position of Deputy President because he was given the go-ahead by the party leadership.

On the other hand, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said that Hamzah has grassroots support and is respected by the Perikatan Nasional (PN) leadership, including among PAS leaders.

“Hamzah’s contribution in terms of time, energy and finances in managing the party, especially after the party’s accounts were frozen, was much greater.

“It’s not just Bersatu, it’s also Hamzah who has come forward to help without fail, throughout the journey and management of PN,” he said.

He also claimed that the Members of Parliament and State Assemblymen (ADUN) who supported Hamzah were individuals who were directly involved in the administration and management of Bersatu for the past several years.

“We, the 19 Members of Parliament and 20 assemblymen who support Datuk Seri Hamzah, are former key players in Bersatu.

“We attended meetings, drafted strategies, formed policies and managed the party for almost five years,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal also criticised Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, claiming that the former Prime Minister has now slipped from the moral and principled path that he has been fighting for.
