adminMELAKA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has confirmed that it will contest in all 28 State Legislative Assembly (DUN) seats in the Melaka State Election (PRN) which is expected to be held in the near future.
PN Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the seat distribution would be finalized through negotiations with component parties to ensure the best strategy could be formulated to achieve victory.
He said PN was now in a state of readiness to face the election with machinery at all levels being strengthened, while Bersatu division chiefs had been asked to submit names of qualified candidates for consideration.
He said that the selection of candidates will be made based on several criteria including good personality and integrity, excellent work record, experience and close ties with the local community.
“Everyone can offer themselves to contest, but we want figures who have a good personality and work ethic, have experience and are close to the people,” he said at the launch of the Melaka Bersatu Election Machinery in Klebang, last night.
He also announced that PN would continue negotiations with other parties interested in working together ahead of the Melaka state election, with any seat distribution to be decided through joint negotiations.
