KUALA LUMPUR: Muar Member of Parliament, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer and actress, Bella Astillah, officially became husband and wife today with one word.
The two couples were married by Datuk Seri Zulkifli Mohamad al-Bakri with a dowry of RM500.
The couple’s wedding ceremony took place on level 118, Menara Merdeka Maybank at 10.40 am and was attended by approximately 300 family members, guests of honour and close friends.
The ceremony also witnessed a gift exchange event, with seven trays from the men being exchanged for nine trays from the women.
The marriage brings together two figures known in different fields, with Syed Saddiq active in the political arena while Bella Astillah has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
Apart from local artists, those present at the event were several local political figures including former Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, as well as former Deputy Prime Minister, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Several political leaders from Singapore were also seen, including the republic’s former Opposition Leader, Pritam Singh.
On average, attendees wore all-white outfits that fit the concept of the Arabic/Islamic wedding at the request of the family.
Today’s wedding ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on October 18.
The couple also plans to hold a People’s Kenduri in Muar, Johor on October 25 and in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on October 31.
