Putrajaya Residents Urged Not To Panic Over Sounds Of Cannon Fire

KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) — The public, particularly those living near the Federal Government administrative centre in Putrajaya, has been advised not to be alarmed by the sound of cannon fire scheduled for June 3 and 5.

Putrajaya district police chief Aidi Sham Mohamed said the sounds would be from ceremonial cannon salutes by the Malaysian Armed Forces during the Trooping of the Colours Parade for His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, at Dataran Pahlawan Negara in Presint 1, Putrajaya.

He said two ceremonial cannon shots would be fired during the full rehearsal starting at 8.30 am on Wednesday (June 3).

“The actual ceremony on Friday (June 5) will feature 21 cannon shots, to be fired at the same time,” he said in a statement today.

Aidi Sham said three main roads would be temporarily closed from 7 am, namely Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Lebuh Perdana Timur, and surrounding routes near Complex E.

He said traffic is expected to be heavy in the affected areas between 7 am and 10 am, and road users are advised to follow police instructions, plan their journeys, and use alternative routes to avoid congestion.
