Investigation into Victor Chin is ongoing – Saifuddin Nasution

KUALA LUMPUR: An investigation into businessman Victor Chin Boon Long, who is alleged to be involved in corporate manipulation related to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), is currently underway involving various government agencies.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the investigation involved the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) as well as the Securities Commission (SC).

He said his party had information regarding Chin’s whereabouts and any action, including the revocation of the individual’s passport, would be determined after the authorities completed several basic investigation procedures.

“First, the police ‘AMLA’ team will first establish the direction of the investigation. Then, we will identify the modus operandi. After that, we will contact those involved. So, whether we will go straight to blocking travel documents, I will let the investigation process be done,” he said.

He said this to reporters after the 219th Police Day commemoration which was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) today.

On March 16, the police confirmed that they had raided several premises belonging to the corporate figure around Kemensah and Sungai Long, Kajang, but he and his wife were not at the location when the raids were carried out.

In another development, Saifuddin Nasution said Malaysia’s achievement of ranking 13th out of 165 countries in the 2025 Global Peace Index places the country as the third most peaceful country in the Asia Pacific after Singapore and New Zealand and second in Southeast Asia.

He said the position was also an important reference for foreign investors.

“In conjunction with the 219th Police Day, we reiterate our determination that we will maintain this position, in fact our target for the 13th Malaysia Plan (13th Malaysia Plan), we want to jump to number nine and we have five years to achieve it,” he said.

Police Day with the slogan “Police and Society Are Not Separate”, is celebrated on March 25 every year in Malaysia, aiming to commemorate the services, sacrifices and dedication of PDRM members in maintaining national security and public order.

The celebration also marks the historic date of the establishment of the police force on March 25, 1807 in Penang following the Charter of Justice.
