adminKUALA LUMPUR: The Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, has not yet received the letter of notification of the resignation of Larut Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, as Leader of the Opposition.
Johari confirmed this when contacted by Bernama today.
I haven’t (received the letter) yet,” he said simply.
Last Sunday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman, Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar confirmed that Hamzah was no longer the holder of the position of Opposition Leader.
Ahmad Samsuri said that following the resignation, he had instructed PN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan to send an official letter informing the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat of the vacancy.
