Service to the people of Petaling Jaya will continue – Fahmi

SHAH ALAM: Services to the people in the Petaling Jaya Parliament will continue to be provided even though its Member of Parliament, Wong Chen, resigned from his position as a Member of the Dewan Rakyat last Monday.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Information Chief, Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said Wong Chen’s decision not to attend party programmes, including the recent PKR Congress in Melaka, must be respected.

“It’s true, he hasn’t attended any party meetings, any party programs for a long time, including the recent congress in Melaka, and that’s his choice. We respect his choice.”

“But like the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that service to the people, especially in the Petaling Jaya Parliament, will continue,” he said when asked to comment on developments regarding Wong Chen’s position in PKR.

According to him, there are several parties including branch heads, State Assemblymen (ADUN) and council members who can help manage the needs and applications of the people in the area concerned.

“We have branch leaders, we have assemblymen, we have council members who will help to ensure that any applications, including for donations and so on, can be managed by the Selangor ICU.”

“So there are several, either assemblymen or from the branch who will help manage the matter.”

“So, good luck to him ,” he said again.

Previously, Subang Member of Parliament, Wong Chen announced his resignation as a Member of the Dewan Rakyat.

Wong Chen, who is also a Member of Parliament from PKR, said the resignation letter was submitted to the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, on August 5.
