KLANG: Pakatan Harapan (PH) is expected to announce the candidates contesting in the Melaka State Election (PRN) within the next week or two.
PH Elections Director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said preparations for the coalition machinery had been going well for about two months.
“Our machinery is in motion and ready… it’s just the coordination, alignment and understanding that are not there yet… God willing, in the near future, which is a week or two, we will announce the candidates who will be contesting,” he said.
He said this to reporters at the launch of the TAWAS Children’s Harvest of Hope (TUAH) Initiative at the KSL Convention Centre here today.
On Sept 27, PH Melaka confirmed that the distribution of seats between its component parties at the state level for the state election had been completed.
Melaka PH chairman Adly Zahari reportedly said that the final arrangement would however be finalised after discussions between the PH Presidential Council, state PH and Amirudin Shari as PH Election Director.
Meanwhile, when asked about PH’s collaboration with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to face the state election, Amirudin, who is also the Menteri Besar of Selangor, said the coalition was still open to holding discussions if there was room for such collaboration.
“If there is space, we will discuss… if not, we are prepared to contest according to our capacity and understanding,” he said.
Previously, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh announced that the State Legislative Assembly would be dissolved effective Sept 23 after receiving the consent of the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam.
