Behind the thousands of Indonesian students and civil society groups who held demonstrations in the capital Jakarta, especially in the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout area, Central Jakarta, were local artists who also participated in the protests.
Among the figures who are vocal and have defended the fate of the people and denied the basis of President Prabowo Subianto, including the issue of forest fires which is still unending are the authoritative actors, Reza Rahadian, Eva Celia and Zaskia Ayda Mecca.
At the gathering held in conjunction with the Youth Pledge Day celebration last Wednesday, Reza, who starred in the film Biru Laut, appeared wearing a hat and face mask, while Eva wore a white T-shirt with the words ‘Join Us. We fight for a clean government’.
Zaskia Adya Mecca was also present at the HI Roundabout, bringing an ambulance and logistical supplies for the demonstration participants.
The wife of director Hanung Bramantyo is not the first to take to the streets to express support for the student movement, Kompas reported.
Zaskia had previously also provided food supplies and medical aid to help students who participated in the demonstration.
Actress and former politician, Wanda Hamidah, was also seen among the demonstration participants at Bundaran HI.
Wanda also brought a poster with the slogan ‘Silence is violence’ as a sign of her support for the struggle.
The demonstration was organized by the Student Executive Board of the University of Indonesia (BEM UI) together with the Committee to Save People’s Sovereignty (SADAR Committee).
The rally is said to be a continuation of the demonstration that took place on October 20, 2026.
Through their statement, the SADAR Committee raised the slogan ‘Comply or Go’ as a call to the authorities to meet the demands put forward.
Among the five main demands brought in the demonstration were disaster management and corporate responsibility, which required the establishment of national disaster status, the prosecution of responsible corporate companies, and the resolution of land governance integration issues.
They also demand a national budget for the people, which must ensure that the national budget (APBN) is used in the interests of the people and stop waste for political interests that are hidden behind populist programs such as Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) and Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP).
The demonstration became a platform for students and civil society to voice their demands regarding governance, people’s welfare and freedom of expression.
