CUPERTINO: In addition to being without a camera notch on the display, the MacBook Pro PROLED XDR also brings back an iconic feature that was once its identity among Apple laptop users, reported Amanz .
The Apple logo on the back of all MacBook Pro PROLED XDR models with touchscreens now lights up with a bright white light, reviving a design element that fans of the brand have long awaited.
The illuminated logo feature was discontinued about a decade ago when Apple introduced a new MacBook Pro design in 2016 that featured a thinner chassis and the use of a shiny metal logo without illumination.
The return of the iconic feature was one of the most notable announcements at Apple’s official launch of new products held from Cupertino, California, this week.
The return of the glowing logo was previously teased through a short video clip uploaded by Apple CEO John Ternus on the X platform.
Several tech content creators who were given early access to the device also featured the feature in their preview reviews.
The new MacBook Pro PROLED XDR model features a Tandem OLED display that offers peak brightness levels of up to 2,000 nits, making it one of the brightest laptop displays Apple has ever offered.
Interestingly, the illuminated Apple logo doesn’t use a dedicated lighting system or separate LED lights. Instead, its illumination level relies on the light emitted by the Tandem OLED display panel itself, similar to the approach used on previous-generation MacBooks before 2016.
As a result, the logo on the back of the laptop will become brighter when the user increases the screen brightness level, and conversely will become dimmer when the display brightness is reduced.
Industry analysts say the move to bring back the illuminated logo reflects Apple’s efforts to reunite nostalgic elements popular among old users with a new generation of more sophisticated display technology.
