adminLOS ANGELES: Medical drama “The Pitt” and horror comedy series “Widow’s Bay” dominated the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards when they won the awards for best drama series and best comedy series, respectively, at the ceremony held at the Peacock Theatre, here, on Monday.
“The Pitt,” set in a Pittsburgh emergency department, won the best drama series category for the second year in a row, beating out other contenders including “Pluribus,” “Paradise” and “The Diplomat.”
Its lead actor, Noah Wyle, also won the award for best actor in a drama series for his role as Dr. Robby.
Meanwhile, “Widow’s Bay” was named best comedy series, beating last year’s winner, “Hacks.”
Its lead star, Matthew Rhys, made history when he became the first actor to win two lead actor Emmys in the same year for “Widow’s Bay” and “The Beast in Me”.
Jean Smart won the award for best actress in a comedy series for her role as Deborah Vance in “Hacks,” earning her fifth Emmy trophy for the series.
