ALOR GAJAH: The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has conveyed its desire to the Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership to be given a seat in the 16th Melaka State Election (PRN).
PPP president Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan said the party had not specifically set any seats to be contested in this election, instead leaving the matter to BN’s consideration based on the suitability of the area and current geopolitical changes.
“PPP once contested the Kota Laksamana State Legislative Assembly seat in 2013, but after internal party problems in 2018, we did not get the seat. So now we are applying to be given the seat back,” he told Bernama.
Earlier, he held a meeting with 120 PPP members consisting of Division Heads, Branch Heads, Youth Heads and Women Heads of Melaka state, here, on Sunday.
In a similar development, Loga Bala announced the appointment of PPP Youth Chief who is also Federal Territory PPP Chief, Sathiah Sudakaran as the Melaka PPP Election Director to assist Melaka PPP Chief Logeswaran Ganesan in coordinating preparations for the PRN.
He said that the preparations for the Melaka PPP election machinery are now at over 90 percent and the machinery will assist BN throughout Melaka as the party did in the previous Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections.
The Melaka State Legislative Assembly term will end this December.
