KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) — Lotus’s Malaysia and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) have strengthened their strategic partnership through ‘Jom Beli Produk Malaysia’ (JOM MALAYSIA) 2026 programme, aimed at helping local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) penetrate the modern retail market.
In a statement today, Lotus’s Malaysia noted that the initiative focuses on enhancing competitiveness, expanding market access, and driving the sustainable growth of local businesses.
Lotus’s Malaysia corporate services executive director, Azliza Baizura Azmel, said support for local SMEs goes beyond merely providing retail space as it also entails strengthening the capabilities of entrepreneurs to expand their respective businesses.
“We are committed to helping entrepreneurs build the capacity and confidence to continue growing, which in turn benefits consumers through a wider range of product choices and better value.
“When our suppliers succeed, customers benefit from a broader selection of products and better value, while our own business grows with them,” the statement read.
Held at Lotus’s Ampang, the JOM MALAYSIA 2026 programme was officiated by Datuk Rohaizi Bahari, secretary of the Trade, Distribution, and Business Division at the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), with Azliza Baizura.
As part of the programme, Lotus’s presented appointment certificates to new suppliers and recognised SME suppliers who demonstrated exceptional sales growth and delivery performance.
JOM MALAYSIA 2026 also featured a four-day carnival at Lotus’s Ampang, bringing together 20 local entrepreneurs to showcase their products directly to consumers, an opportunity that enhances product visibility while helping them better understand customer needs and preferences.
According to the statement, Lotus’s which operates 71 branches nationwide provides a platform to expand consumer access to local products, while also assisting suppliers in improving product standards, operational readiness, and supply consistency.
To provide ongoing support for this ecosystem, Lotus’s is continuing its SME Empowerment Seminar initiative, with this year’s third edition themed “Unlock Your Potential – Mastering Business Growth for SMEs.”
Each edition of the seminar has attracted over 150 participants from more than 80 micro-enterprises, focusing on areas such as branding, product quality, supply consistency, and the business requirements of the modern retail sector.
JOM MALAYSIA previously known as “Buy Malaysian Products Campaign,” has been rebranded by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) this year to strengthen efforts in promoting local products and enhancing the capabilities of Malaysian enterprises.
