KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) — Eco World Foundation has donated seven oxygen concentrators, worth RM36,000, to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Lifelink Seribu Kasih (LSK) to support home-based care for bedridden patients.
It said in a statement that the equipment was handed over by Eco World Foundation chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye to LSK chairperson Siah Mun Yee at a ceremony here.
Established on March 29, 2024, LSK provides healthcare support to patients at home, including through the loan of hospital beds, wheelchairs and other mobility aids, as well as nutritional and medical supplies.
The statement said, since its establishment, LSK has supported 379 cases through equipment loans, physiotherapy visits and care guidance.
It currently provides regular monthly care to 25 patients and collaborates with welfare homes, including Ti Ratana and Persatuan Kebajikan Sayap Kasih Malaysia.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Lee said a reliable oxygen supply could enable bedridden patients to receive care at home while easing the burden on caregivers.
“For a bedridden patient, a reliable supply of oxygen can mean being cared for at home, surrounded by family, rather than spending long stretches in hospital.
“That matters greatly to the patient’s comfort and dignity, and it eases the burden on families who are already doing their best to care for their loved ones,” he said.
According to Lee the foundation hoped the contribution would enable LSK to continue its work and extend assistance to more patients in need.
Earlier this year, the foundation donated five hospital beds to The Charity Food Basket Society Klang to support its home care services, and contributed RM115,000 to Hospital Rehabilitasi Cheras in August for patient care and medical equipment upgrades.
On Oct 15, it also contributed RM108,000 towards two haemodialysis machines to Yayasan St John Ambulans Malaysia to expand access to regular treatment for kidney patients as well as supporting education through its Students Aid Programme, which assists about 2,000 underprivileged students annually.
