KUALA LUMPUR: Any discussions regarding cooperation between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) to face the Melaka State Election (PRN) will be handled by the election committees of both coalitions.
Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the matter would be discussed at the responsible committee level.
According to him, PH Elections Director, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and PH Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will manage the discussions.
“That was indeed the election committee discussing as usual.”
“We have Amirudin and Saifuddin to discuss,” he said briefly when met by reporters on Wednesday.
He said this when asked to comment on whether discussions between PH and BN on cooperation to face the Melaka state election had begun.
Earlier, Saifuddin was reported not to rule out the possibility of holding a meeting with Melaka Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, to discuss cooperation ahead of the state election.
Saifuddin, who is also PKR Vice President, said the discussions were likely to be held after Ab Rauf returned from a working visit to New Zealand.
Previously, BN Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also announced that the coalition was still open to negotiations regarding the distribution of seats for the Melaka state election, including the change of constituencies, as long as it was done honestly and sincerely.
