BTS kicks off Arirang world tour with 132,000 fans in Goyang

K-pop sensation BTS kicked off their latest world tour titled ‘Arirang’ with a bang at Goyang Stadium, Seoul, attracting an estimated 132,000 fans over the three-night concert.

According to their management agency, BIGHIT MUSIC on Monday, the high-intensity concert will take place on April 9, 11 and 12, marking the seven-member group’s official comeback on the big stage after a break since 2022.

The performance on the night of April 11 was also broadcast live in cinemas in 194 countries, thus proving BTS’ global influence which continues to dominate the international music industry.

BIGHIT MUSIC announced that all pre-sale tickets for the concert at Goyang Stadium, which features a 360-degree open stage, were sold out, while tickets for the tour in North America and Europe also sold out within hours of the general sale opening.

The world tour follows BTS’s return as a full group after all its members complete their mandatory South Korean military service by mid-2025.

After that, BTS returned to the studio to record their fifth studio album titled Arirang, which was released last March and managed to top the Billboard 200 chart for three consecutive weeks.

The album’s lead song, Swim, also achieved impressive success when it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart before dropping to No. 2 the following week.

Throughout the tour’s opening concert, BTS performed several popular songs including Hooligan, Swim and Mic Drop, as well as taking the time to interact directly with fans who filled the venue.

Group leader RM said the decision to return to the stage was made by consensus by all seven members, while expressing appreciation for the continued support of fans around the world.

“What’s important is that the seven of us have decided to do this together. We will not take lightly, even for a moment, that you have filled this venue, and we will always step forward with humility,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jung Kook said he is committed to continuing to grow as an artist as a sign of appreciation for the loyalty of fans who always await the group’s artistic journey.

“If you continue to wait for us, I will show you the better sides of myself and become an artist who can repay your love,” he said.
