MADRID: International pop star Shakira has announced an unusual move in the music industry by building a temporary stadium called “Estadio Shakira” to close her latest world tour, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, in the Spanish capital this September.
According to international media reports, the stadium was developed in collaboration with Live Nation Spain and will accommodate more than 50,000 spectators every night.
The overwhelming response from fans forced the organizers to add three new nights to the original schedule, making a total of six nights of performances on 18, 19, 20 as well as 25, 26 and 27 September 2026.
The special 4.2-acre venue will be located in the Iberdrola Music area, Villaverde district, and will be developed as a “temporary city” combining music, art, culinary, interactive spaces and exhibitions themed “Es Latina”.
The concept is similar to the approach of Adele’s residency in Munich in 2024, which used a temporary venue to provide full control over the audio and visual quality of the performance.
The Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour previously made history as the highest-grossing tour by a Latin artist, grossing over US$421 million through 86 shows worldwide.
The Madrid performance will also mark Shakira’s first appearance in Spain in eight years, having last appeared on her El Dorado tour in 2018.
