XPDC: Solid combo is really ‘PengYu’ this August

AFTER a long time without being on stage, XPDC and Yantoi are finally joining forces for a concert to be held at Odeon, Kuala Lumpur on 22 August.

Not only that, the organisers of the ‘XPDC Kita Peng Yu – Headbang Live & Loud At Odeon KL’ concert seem to really want something different and give a different experience to die-hard fans of the country’s legendary heavy metal band when they also invited Jatt Black Dogbone as well as the late Mael’s younger brother, Syed Ali Syed Ibrahim.

However, fans definitely want to see a solid combination involving Yantoi as one of the strong men behind the production of several XPDC albums a while ago which sparked a phenomenon including the albums Kita Pengyu and Brutal.

According to Mosli as the organizer, XPDC is a group that has many fans in addition to their charisma as a respected heavy metal group.

Therefore, the combination involving Jatt, Yantoi and Syed Ali is a recipe to perfect the halwa of their fans’ ears who are thirsty for 60s metal rhythms as well as remembering the real hero behind XPDC’s greatness with the presence of Syed Ali later.

“Apart from their solid combination, we want all fans to feel the real vibe of the golden era of their time, namely the era of axe rock, where in this area (around Odeon) everyone gathered and saw for themselves the journey of the country’s rock generation .

“We will be presenting three segments that night, namely heavy metal, tribute and 60s metal . So this combination is something different from the concerts XPDC has done before,” Mosli told Astro AWANI when met at Odeon recently.

He said the idea of holding the concert arose several months ago before discussions with XPDC.

Although the venue’s capacity is not large, it is able to provide comfort and satisfactory audio satisfaction.

Mosli, who has extensive experience in holding large concerts, explained that although there were a few issues in organising concerts at the Odeon before, all the shortcomings have been improved, including the air conditioning, at a high cost.

“The seating capacity in the upper part is 220, while the lower part can accommodate approximately 1,700 people.

“Due to the limited capacity, we will not hesitate to extend this concert to two nights if it meets the appropriate demand,” he said.

The sound system at the concert is also guaranteed to provide extraordinary satisfaction to fans who attend that night.

Meanwhile, according to XPDC manager, Yazid Selamat, the upcoming concert will be more of a brotherhood affair by bringing together those who are indeed connected to XPDC, both in terms of album production, concepts and even individuals who are closest to the late Mael.

“Yantoi is an old friend who was an important force in the making of our album which exploded before and everyone knew it.

“Syed Ali is the younger brother of the late Mael who remains loved by XPDC fans to this day even though he has left us.

“The presence of Jatt also certainly adds great value to the 60s metal segment that XPDC fans are still crazy about until now, and all of them have always been familiar with XPDC from the past until now,” explained Yazid.

When met, Yantoi also admitted that he was really looking forward to this moment since XPDC has its own sentimental value to him.

In fact, he will ensure that different ‘specials’ will be brought especially for XPDC fans that night.

“Actually, I always keep an eye on XPDC and as a group that we have worked with, what we want is more satisfaction when we hold concerts and performances.

“I remember the time we spent together making the album, when the late Mael was still around… each of us couldn’t deny that they all had their own magic.

“The albums ‘Kita Pengyu’ and ‘Brutal’ for example… there was too much greatness and magic contained in the work at that time that we could see,” explained Yantoi.

In fact, according to him, the two albums were so strong that they were so attached and close to his heart due to the extraordinary commitment and strength contained in the albums.

Therefore, he said, what will be served in August will recall that era of greatness through the arrangement of songs and performances that will be staged.

Yantoi hopes that all the fans and even himself will really enjoy the performance that has been awaited for so long.

Even more exciting, lucky fans will also have the opportunity to witness soundcheck and rehearsal sessions, as well as meet all the members of XPDC Kita PengYu on the evening of the concert at Odeon KL.

Tickets will go on sale starting June 23 via pre-registration before full sales open on June 26 online which can also be found at https://officialxpdckitapengyu.com/
